My new favorite. We bought this pretty little flower at the co-op the other day and I was amazed by the process it goes through. In the beginning, it was basically glued shut by a sticky residue it produces, which apparently the ants love, and each day it opened up more and more. By the fourth day, it was fully opened and beautiful, and by the fifth, the pollen had dropped onto it's pedals, which then floated softly to the floor. I was entranced by the way the pedals acted almost as a little cup, safely delivering pollen to a new area, blown delicately by the wind.

We are almost finished with the process of putting together our first 12" LP vinyl. Our debut album will include nine of our indie folk songs. As we wait for the day when we can finally hold the finished product in our hands we are passing the time by making music videos for each track. This one is called, "Stuck Inside My Mind With the Insomniac Blues."

My love for this free people sweater pushed me to crochet my very first sweater. It turned out really well. I'm super stoked to make another one!     

Fly

When we found this the other day we lost all sense of reality. It's a plastic toy horse chained to the street. So surreal.

The Black Angels

Alli and I missed out on a Kills show but then made up for it by hitting up the Black Angels' show at the Wonder Ballroom. So loud. So hip. I think I asked Peter Holmström (guitarist for The Dandy Warhols) if  he could show me where the Black Angels merch table was located. I guess he played a set earlier that night with his new project, Pete International Airport. Now I need to stop slacking and write the review!

We made it to Portland and found an apartment! First thing is first. Eat. We picked up some pots and pans {courtesy of Ben's Ma and Pa.} Now we're in full-on nest mode. Today, we'll hit the Portland streets {well shops} to find some hip furniture. A large vintage mirror is for sure on the top of the list.

We made it! This last picture is the view from our hotel room at The Mark Spencer Hotel. We're loving Portland already. Today we are apartment hunting. We'll keep you posted.

Tuck Shop

Since we were in Phoenix, we stopped at the Tuck Shop for Vovo's special (penne pasta with seasonal veggies, spinach, tomatoes and shrimp in a white wine butter sauce. I know, right?) What can I say, John knows his business and he for sure knows how to make a gin and tonic. I can venture a guess that most of the success to his version of this highball cocktail is a result of using the best of ingredients. I am especially referring to his hand crafted tonic water, John's Premium Tonic Syrup. We continued our meal with a few shrimp po' boys and finished with an apple bar and tea. I will say we were feeling a bit nostalgic for the savory cupcakes that were once on the menu, but we understand that sometimes good things must come to an end (making way for other good things of course.)
